What are YOUR Priorities when it comes to Policing?

Written by Cllr Malcolm Doherty - Police Authority Chair

Every year we try to make sure that we match what matters most to people with our resources – the budget, police officers, staff, vehicles and facilities.  As times become tougher, the decisions we have to take become more difficult.

We will soon be considering our options when it comes to the council tax and, so that we can meet your expectations, it is really important that you tell us what you think is most important.

The answers you give to the questions we are asking on this LOOP survey will help us to set the right priorities when we plan ahead.

This, the last budget that the Police Authority will set, is one of the most difficult in our history, and we are keen to generate as much debate as possible among our communities about what the priorities should be and these will influence how the budget is invested on your behalf.

I hope that you will help us by investing a little time to complete our new survey.  If you don’t, we can’t take your opinion into account when we make our decisions.

The Police Authority has a duty to ensure our services are providing value for money, something that we have always prided ourselves upon.  We are determined that the public’s investment in policing, in the form of council tax, is spent on those areas of most concern to the public.

We would be really grateful if you encouraged your colleagues, family and friends to share their views on LOOP too.  Policing really does matter to everyone.
